Welcome to CHH Woodproducts NZ Engineers Zone

This website has been provided to allow engineers quick access to available design information relating to the design and development of timber based solutions. Many of the links on this site are to well established timber design websites that include information for different regions of the world and this information must be considered in its context when being applied to specific designs.

At Carter Holt Harvey (CHH) Woodproducts we aim to foster the design of timber based solutions and have a full range of products to suit the design and construction of residential, commercial and industrial buildings. This web page is constantly evolving with news and information added as it comes to hand.

Advantages of timber systems

There are many advantages of using timber systems, the three main benefits include:

  1. Aesthetics - There is a warmth and general good feeling about working in a timber building. The use of Ecoply® plywood gussets or concealed fin plate connections allows architects the flexibility to achieve a different look.
  2. Environmentally friendly - CHH Woodproducts LVL buildings are a ‘green’ solution as the materials are made from renewable plantation pine that is carbon storing for the life of the project.  Many CHH Woodproducts can be supplied FSC certification,  with all products being avaliable FSC certified in due course.
  3. Corrosion resistance - Timber is inert to most acids and alkalines and perfectly suited to corrosive environments, such as fertiliser storage and compost facilities.
